How to create a WhatsApp group and invite customers
Step by step to create a WhatsApp group with the company's official number, invite customers with a link and chat with the group in the Chatcenter.

Create a WhatsApp group with the company's number and chat with it in the Chatcenter, alongside your other conversations. People join through the invite link.
What you need
- A number connected through Meta's official API (WhatsApp Cloud) and registered as an official business account (OBA).
- To invite by message: the "Group invite link" template from Meta's Template Library, approved on the same number.
Step by step
Open a new conversation
In the Chatcenter (Conversations in the simple menu), click New conversation at the top of the conversation list.
Choose the WA Group tab
In the New conversation window, click the WA Group tab.
Fill in the group details
Under Number, choose the company number. Type the Group name and, if you like, the Description, which people see when they open the link. Turn on Approve who joins if the team should approve each request.
Create the group
Click Create group on WhatsApp. The group conversation opens with the notice "Creating the group…". In a few seconds, "Group created on WhatsApp" appears.
Invite people
In the group panel on the right (on a phone, tap the group name at the top), under Invite link, copy the link and send it however you like. Or click Invite contact, choose the contact and the Invite template and click Send invite.
Chat with the group
When someone joins, the conversation shows a notice and the person appears under Participants. Write in the message field as in any conversation: the message goes to the whole group.
What to expect
The group stays in the Chatcenter, in the Groups tab and in the number's inbox list.
- Each message received shows who wrote it.
- Joins, departures and requests appear as notices in the conversation.
- The AI agent doesn't reply in the group.
