How to add the XBASE chat to your website

Step by step to turn on Live Chat, choose the AI agent that serves your visitors and install the script on your website.

Updated on

Add a chat button to your website where the XBASE AI agent serves your visitors. The conversations appear in the Chatcenter so your team can follow them.

What you need

  • An active Native AI agent. External agents don't serve the website chat. If you don't have one yet, see How to create an AI agent.
  • Permission to manage integrations in XBASE. If you don't have it, ask whoever manages the account.
  • Access to edit your website HTML, or someone who can do it for you.

Step by step

Open Integrations

In the XBASE menu, open Integrations and, in the Inboxes tab (the first one), find the Live Chat card.

Open Live Chat

Click Connect (or Manage, if the chat is already on for some agent). The Live Chat on your website window opens.

Choose the agent

Under Agent, choose the agent that will serve your visitors. If you see "No active agent can serve the website chat.", create an agent first with the Create agent button.

Enter the website address

In Website address (optional), type the address with https://, such as https://yourcompany.com. XBASE allows that address and the version with or without www.

Turn it on

Click Turn on Live Chat. You'll see "Live Chat is on with the agent", followed by the agent's name, and the allowed address.

Copy the script

Right below, under Installation script, click Copy script.

Paste the script on your website

In your website HTML, paste the script before the closing body tag, on every page where the chat should appear. Publish the website.

Customize, if you like

In the same window, click Customize. The agent's Webchat settings screen opens, with the Appearance (colors and Position), Behavior (Widget title, the button text, and Welcome message) and Advanced tabs. Changes save automatically.

If the chat will be on more than one website, add the other addresses under Widget domains (CORS), below the Integration code, with Add domain/IP.

What to expect

The chat button appears in the corner of your website (bottom right by default). To test it, open the website, click the button and send a message: the agent replies right there.

In XBASE, the conversation appears in the Chatcenter (Conversations in the simple menu), with a new contact called Website visitor # followed by a code. In Channels, the Live Chat card now shows Connected and the agent's name under Agents on Live Chat.
