Lead prospecting on Google Maps
How XBASE finds businesses on Google Maps by topic and city, separates those with a mobile number, exports the list and sends the leads to the funnel.
Updated on
Prospecting finds businesses on Google Maps by the topic and city you choose, with phone, website, Instagram, rating and number of reviews. You review the list, select the ones you want and send them straight to a funnel stage. From there on, the automation or agent that already handles that stage reaches out.
The search runs on treg.to, an external service that charges each search to the balance of your treg account. XBASE does not charge anything extra for Prospecting.
Prospecting is in the menu, under Contacts, and also opens from the Find new leads button at the top of the contact list.
To do it the first time, follow the step-by-step guide.
What you need
- A treg.to account with balance, and its token.
- A funnel in the workspace to receive the leads.
- To connect the token: permission to manage integrations. To search and send to the funnel: permission to manage contacts.
Search sources
At the top of Prospecting, choose where to search:
| Source | What it brings | Up to | Approximate cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Maps | local businesses by topic and city: mobile and landline, website, Instagram, rating, reviews and address | 500 per search | quick: cents per search; broad: about US$0.009 per business |
| profiles whose bio has the keyword (the city, if given, goes into the search): handle, name, bio and followers; mobile number and email when they are written in the bio | 100 per search | about US$0.002 per page of some 45 profiles | |
| B2B companies | companies with a LinkedIn page by keywords and location: website, LinkedIn, industry, employees, address and description | 200 per search | about US$0.0004 per company |
- On Instagram, each search uses a single topic and private profiles are left out.
- In B2B companies, the phone comes only when the database has it, and email does not come: use the website and LinkedIn for the first contact.
- Already in CRM checks the Google place, the Instagram handle, the LinkedIn page and the phone.
- Filters that do not apply to the chosen source disappear from the screen.
treg.to connection
The treg.to token belongs to the workspace: once connected, it works for everyone in the workspace who can prospect. You can connect it on the Prospecting screen itself (Connect treg.to account) or in Integrations → Agents & APIs → treg.to.
XBASE checks the token with treg.to before saving it, stores it encrypted and never shows it again, only the last 4 characters.
At the top of Prospecting, the treg.to button shows the account balance, updated after each search. Its menu has Refresh balance, Top up balance on treg.to, Change token and Disconnect (asks for confirmation).
Search filters
- What are you looking for?: the topic, as you would type it into Google Maps ("dentist", "gym"). The suggestions in the list have a single topic, so they fall into the quick search. For several topics, separate them with commas.
- Where? (City or region): city, state or neighborhood.
- Quantity: 5, 20, 50, 100, 250 or 500 businesses.
- WhatsApp / mobile only: only businesses with a mobile number, which you can message on WhatsApp. On by default.
- Hide already in CRM: removes from the list anyone who is already a contact in the workspace. On by default.
- Only with website, With Instagram and With email.
- In Advanced filters and refinement: specific Google categories, minimum rating, minimum reviews and, in the broad search only, find emails and social links on the website, skip closed businesses, Maps details, reviews per business and expanded area scan.
Quick search and broad search
What decides the search type is the number of topics and the quantity requested:
| Topics | Quantity | Search type | Approximate cost on treg.to |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 (e.g. "dentist") | up to 20 | Quick | about US$0.003 per search of 20 businesses |
| 1 (e.g. "dentist") | more than 20 | Broad | about US$0.009 per business |
| 2 or more (e.g. "lawyers, law firm") | any | Broad | about US$0.009 per business |
The broad search costs around 50 times more per business, because it visits each business website to bring emails and social profiles. To spend less, search one topic at a time. The broad search has a cap of US$1 per search.
The screen shows which of the two will run before you click Search businesses. While the search runs, the screen only shows Searching businesses… (the quick one takes from a few seconds to 1 minute; the broad one, up to a minute and a half). The actual cost shows above the list, and the balance on the treg.to button. With WhatsApp / mobile only on, some businesses have no mobile number: XBASE asks treg.to for more businesses to get close to the quantity requested.
What you can do with the list
- Quick filters with the count for each: Mobile, Landline only, With website, With Instagram, With email, New and Already in CRM.
- Filter the list by name, neighborhood or part of the phone number, and sort by highest rating, most reviews or name.
- Export to Excel or CSV, only the selected ones or the whole list. The spreadsheet includes the WhatsApp link for each mobile number.
- Copy phones to paste into another tool.
- On each business: open it on WhatsApp, the website, Instagram or Google Maps, copy the phone number or remove it from the list.
None of this runs a new search on treg.to or costs anything.
What happens when you send to the funnel
In Send to funnel, you first choose the Funnel (already selected when the workspace has only one) and then the Stage, which only shows that funnel's stages. For each selected business:
- If it is not a contact yet, it becomes a new contact with the name, the mobile number (which becomes the contact's WhatsApp), the landline (for calls), the email, the website, the address and the category.
- If it is already a contact (same Google business or same phone number), XBASE uses the existing contact and does not create another one.
- The contact's conversation goes into the chosen stage. If the conversation was already in another stage, it is moved.
Prospecting does not send messages to anyone. The automation or agent that already handles the funnel stage reaches out to the lead.
Rules and limits
- The data comes from Google Maps as it is there: outdated phone numbers or businesses without a mobile number are common.
- Email often comes empty in the quick search. In the broad search, turn on Find emails and social links on the website.
- At most 500 businesses per search and 500 per send.
- Having a mobile number does not guarantee that the number has WhatsApp.
